SUMMARY:Concentric Recovery Monthly Meetings
DESCRIPTION:Community Offering | Please register online for this in person event. \nJoin us\, in community\, every third Tuesday at True Nature in Carbondale\, as we combine physical practice with prompt-based discussion and connection around the central questions of addiction and recovery\, with a focus on its social and spiritual dimensions. \nWhat if addiction were a call? An opportunity? An open doorway through which we could pass into a deeper and more participatory version of our lives? \nFrom screens\, to substances\, to work\, to sex- there is no shortage of opportunities to tune out of that which troubles us into a world of temporary ease and distraction. For many of us\, the very things that help us avoid pain become problems of their own. This is the basic cycle of addiction\, and it is pervasive in the world today. \nNo prior experience necessary. All bodies and levels are welcome.* \nConcentric Recovery meetings are for people of all ages who:\nExperience mild to moderate addiction(s)* (This program is not a great fit for those experiencing severe addiction)**\nAre affected by addiction in the life of someone close to them\nAre willing to learn more about addiction and recovery\nAre willing to explore new tools and methods for moving through the negative effects of addiction\nAre curious about the social and spiritual dimensions of addiction \n*Addiction is a chronic condition characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli (such as substances or behaviors) despite adverse consequences.\n**Severe addiction is characterized by continuing behavior despite serious physical\, psychological\, social\, and/or legal repercussions. \nDavis Cowles is the Program Lead and head facilitator for Concentric Recovery. He teaches yoga and breathwork for people in recovery\, and is walking through the doorway of addiction himself. Learn more about Davis at our ticketing/RSVP page. \nThe Concentric Recovery program offering is an educational initiative of the Connection is the Medicine Foundation. SUMMARY:Breathing in Recovery: Reclaiming Wholeness Through Breath and Community

We’ll explore addiction not as a flaw to be fixed\, but as a signal from the body—a call to deeper connection. \nREGISTER NOW \nTogether\, we will: \nLearn how addiction relates to the nervous system through the lens of Polyvagal Theory \nPractice breathing and movement tools to build resilience \nGather in community to reduce isolation and shame \nParticipate in a powerful ceremonial breathwork session \nLeave with a deeper sense of our own inner resources \nThis event is inclusive\, trauma-aware\, and open to all adults (18+). No experience with breathwork or recovery spaces is required—just your presence and willingness to explore. \nMEET YOUR HOST \nDavis Cowles is a breath coach\, yoga teacher\, and men’s work facilitator who walks the path of healing with both personal reverence and professional commitment. He is the founder of Moon & Back\, a community-centric offering rooted in the belief that living well is a shared endeavor—one we arrive at through authentic embodiment and connection to the natural world. \nDavis’s journey into nervous system health and somatic work is shaped by a lifetime of proximity to addiction and recovery\, both in his family and his own experience. That history led him to the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model\, where he trained in trauma-informed care specifically for addiction\, and to a wider synthesis of modalities that support sustainable transformation. His work integrates yoga\, breathwork\, and nervous system education—not just as techniques\, but as invitations to come home to ourselves. \nBefore coaching\, Davis worked in science\, education\, and outdoor leadership. He holds a degree in Coastal Environmental Science with a minor in Spanish from Louisiana State University\, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Ogden Honors College. His early professional years included teaching high school biology and Spanish\, guiding wilderness trips\, and facilitating experiential education. A profound curiosity has always guided his path—across ecosystems\, languages\, and inner landscapes. \nToday\, Davis supports individuals and groups through coaching\, breathwork\, and somatic practice. He creates spaces where people can gather sincerely\, honor their stories\, and return to the Earth that holds us all. \nLearn more at mnbcoach.com \nREGISTER NOW through our ticketing page – https://www.truenaturehealingarts.com/events-workshops/2025/7/1/jyuf04a6jrza3y49snp43c5ledk982

SUMMARY:Sound Journey with Dr. Zachary + Krista Cashin
DESCRIPTION:Sound Journey with Dr. Zachary + Krista Cashin\nThursday\, July 24th\, 2025 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM\nEarly Bird $45 through July 9th\nFull Price $55 \nPlease register through our ticketing page. \nWhat to Bring: Comfortable clothing\, an extra mat\, pillow or blanket\, and anything to support your comfort during the journey. We will provide one yoga mat\, blanket and bolster for each participant. You may want to bring extra for your own comfort level. \nThe Science of Sound Healing: Sound baths are more than a spiritual experience—they are scientifically proven to support well-being. Vibrational frequencies from instruments like gongs and chimes stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system\, reducing stress hormones like cortisol and promoting deep relaxation. Studies show sound therapy can lower heart rate\, blood pressure\, and feelings of anxiety while enhancing focus and emotional balance. The harmonics and overtones resonate at cellular levels\, aiding in physical healing and fostering a sense of inner peace and connection. \nThe Healing Power of Sacred Sound: Sacred sound is a universal spiritual language found across cultures and traditions. It resonates deeply within all beings\, offering profound healing\, balance\, and rejuvenation. This sound journey combines gongs and other healing instruments to create a vibrational experience rooted in Buddhist teachings and enhanced by bio-energetics and quantum science. Participants are bathed in rhythms\, harmonics\, and tonalities that promote emotional balance\, cellular renewal\, and spiritual awakening. \nKrista Cashin will enhance the evening with Healing Touch Therapy\, a gentle practice inducing deep calm and relaxation. Through light touch on the shoulders\, face\, and neck\, with optional essential oils\, Krista’s care supports your transformation. Krista Joy Cashin is a registered nurse who has over 30 years of nursing experience. She became interested in holistic nursing while working in the intensive care nursery as she became aware of the many facets of health. She received her certification in holistic nutrition at the Nutrition Therapy Institute as well as certificates in Reiki\, Healing Touch\, and Energy Medicine. \nDr. Zachary Cashin has been practicing chiropractic and holistic healing methodologies for over 30 years. He currently uses Tibetan singing bowls\, tuning forks and essential oils in his chiropractic practice to accelerate deeper and more subtle levels of healing integration and transformation. \nThis programming is brought to you through the Connection is the Medicine Foundation\, a non-profit foundation dedicated to co-creating a world where individuals and communities thrive from a sense of inspiration\, connection\, and self-discovery. SUMMARY:Common Roots Men's Group
DESCRIPTION:Building Community\, Connection\, And Belonging For Men In The Roaring Fork Valley\n \n REGISTER\n \nMen need spaces to gather sincerely with other men\, to express the fullness of their experience\, and to witness other men doing the same. Common Roots connects men of the Roaring Fork Valley\, sparks brotherhood and fosters a healthy and mature masculine culture in a world where men often “go it alone.” \nTHIS IS NOT THERAPY. It is a gathering that challenges traditional ideas of support groups through peer empowerment\, deep listening\, and embodiment for strength\, hope and cultural change. \nCONVERSATION OF THE MONTH: TRIGGERS \nWe all have moments when something small suddenly feels big—a comment\, a glance\, a memory—and we’re thrown off balance. These moments\, often called triggers\, can catch us off guard\, stir up old pain\, and leave us feeling reactive or overwhelmed. \nIn this month’s Common Roots gathering\, we’ll open up a supportive space to explore our personal triggers with curiosity and compassion. Taken together\, the classes build a well-rounded foundation in Ayurvedic living — exploring in detail Ayurvedic diet and digestive types\, Ayurvedic Mind management\, and how to create a personally balancing lifestyle in synch with natures rhythms through a holistic Ayurvedic lens. \nThis series is ideal for anyone interested in self-care and conscious living. Yoga teachers and wellness professionals will find it complements their training and provides tools they can apply personally and professionally. \nPart 1: Ayurvedic Diet – The Sacred Fire of Digestion\nThis class will cover the art and wisdom of Ayurvedic eating. Proper eating is akin to practicing daily fire sacrifice. We select\, mix and then offer food to the sacred fire of digestion. Why is this fire sacred? Well\, it is what turns the outer world\, all that we take in\, into self. Outer transforms to inner\, this fire maintains our life. Like any good ritual there is proper timing\, set and setting\, ingredients and perhaps most important … intention. We will unpack the concept of agni\, the 3 clinical types of agni\, and we’ll learn to determine which type we\, or our clients have. Herbal remedies and specific practices to balance each of the 3 types will be covered\, as well as details on proper food combining. Kindle the sacred on a regular basis by turning each meal into a lovely ritual of self-creation and self-care. \nPart 2: Ayurvedic Mind – Awareness as Medicine\nThis class will explore how Ayurveda views the mind and emotions. Ayurveda is a truly wholistic system of medicine as it addresses\, in detail\, how to have sustained wellbeing not just in the body\, but in the mind and spirit as well. It is not common in Western culture to manage the health of the mind in an ongoing regular way. It is only when more severe imbalances are experienced that we seek professional help. This leaves a giant gap. It is akin to never brushing your teeth and then only seeing a dentist when you get a cavity. Mental hygiene is a very important concept in Ayurveda. The second class of this series will delve into the unique way that Ayurveda views the mind and emotions. We will unfold how the mind and emotions effect the doshas and how the doshas and the qualities of our environment effect the mind. Indispensable mind management and mental hygiene practices will be shared. \nPart 3: Ayurvedic Lifestyle – Living with the Rhythm of Nature\nJoin us to explore how the elements speak to us\, so we may live in greater rhythm with nature! The ancient rishis who brought us the system of Ayurveda\, looked deeply into the foundational causes of imbalance in regards to health. They observed that 20 qualities of Nature could cause imbalance and likewise could be applied therapeutically to maintain good health. These 20 qualities are referred to as the gunas. Understanding the 20 gunas is fundamental to Ayurveda\, so much so that they are often referred to as the “language of Ayurveda”. These qualities are derived from the 5 elements; earth\, water\, fire\, air and space and therefore could also be considered the language of the elements themselves. It is due to the qualities of the elements that we are influenced by climate\, season\, time of day\, food and herbs. All life on earth\, all substances\, as well as thoughts and actions have these 20 qualities and once you understand them\, the entire manifest world can be utilized as medicine. This understanding greatly simplifies Ayurvedic philosophy and is immediately practical to layperson and practitioner alike. Let’s learn how the elements speak to us\, so we may live in rhythm with nature. \nMeet Your Host | Julie Peterson\nJulie is an herbalist\, an Ayurvedic Practitioner\, and the founder of Singing Springs Botanicals. Through Singing Springs\, she offers a curated line of handcrafted herbal remedies that artfully integrate Ayurvedic and Western Herbal traditions. Julie graduated from the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies in 2002 and from the Ayurvedic Institute (Dr. Vasant Lad’s school) in 2009. A perennial student in both these fields she continues learning with Dr. Robert Svaboda\, Acharya Shunya\, Vaidya Bharat and Dr. Zach Bush among others. Outside of professional realms\, Julie can most often be found tending her organic gardens on a small piece of land in the Uncompagre Valley. When the gardens aren’t in need\, she is roaming the San Juan mountains with a heart full of curiosity for deepening relations with all the ranges magic\, through foraging\, hiking\, skiing and climbing.
