I try to keep counseling as simple as possible. There are times you just need to be heard. Times you need insight figuring something out. Times you need tangible tools to work on feeling different. The common ground in all these situations is the need for a foundation of trust with the person sitting across from you.
I have spent the majority of my career working with young people and their families at the confluence of mental health and substance use. I have pursued additional training related to Dialectical Behavior Therapy and addiction work. I am fully licensed as a Clinical Social Worker and Certified Addiction Specialist. All this really means is that I have spent time practicing so I hopefully don’t waste yours.
